Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) Bark Essential Oil as Raw Material for Skin Cream and Anti-Bacterial

Research has been carried out to identify the essential oil components of cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum burmannii) which will be used in manufacture face creams and test its inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Cinnamon was separated by steam distillation method. The oils obtained were identified gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) infrared spectra. GC-MS chromatogram yielded 3 peaks. compound that largest retention time concentration is 1,3 octadien-3-ol (linalool). Analysis absorption data spectrum resulted specific bonds, namely C=O (aldehyde), C=C (aliphatic), C=N (imin) groups. results formulation characteristic cream, all formulations met National Standard, pH 7, adhesion 28.61 seconds, spreadability 6.1 cm. Inhibition tested using diffusion greatest inhibitory power found at a 15% with clear zone formed 2.15 mm.
